- Sisteron “Gateway to Provence”: dominated by its majestic citadel, Sisteron is a town steeped in history, with its narrow lanes (known as “andrones”), its Baume rock with its impressive vertical strata and its lake for family bathing.
- Orpierre (20 min): a medieval village set in a cirque of spectacular cliffs. It’s the world’s climbing paradise, but also a charming place to stroll beneath its colorful facades.
- Serres (30 min): built amphitheatrically on the Pignolette rock, this village, classified as a “Petite cité de caractère”, offers a journey back in time with its Renaissance mansions and covered passageways.

- Salignac: a veritable balcony overlooking the Durance valley, the charming village of Salignac will seduce you with its absolute calm, its panoramas bathed in Provencal light and its hiking trails winding through marl and orchards.
- Lurs: one of the region’s most beautiful villages, perched on a ridge overlooking the Durance valley. Its “Promenade des évêques” offers a 360° panorama of olive groves and the Valensole plateau.

1. Conquering the Sisteron citadel
It’s the “pearl of Haute-Provence”. Perched on its rocky outcrop, this fortress offers breathtaking panoramic views over the Durance valley and the famous Baume rock.

1. Les nuits de la citadelle (Sisteron)
One of the oldest festivals in the region (July and August). Imagine classical music concerts, theater or dance in the green theater, with the illuminated citadel as a backdrop.
Why do we like it? It’s a magical, prestigious experience just 10 minutes from the campsite.
2. Passage of the Tour de France (or cycling events)
The region is a land of cycling. Sisteron is often a stage town or starting point for the Tour de France. Even outside the Tour, the summer is punctuated by criteriums and cyclosportive races that attract cycling enthusiasts.
The atmosphere: an incredible popular fervor that animates all the café terraces.
3. Volonne Music Festival
Just a few kilometers from Salignac, the charming village of Volonne often organizes musical evenings and street festivals during the summer.
The little extra: a relaxed, family atmosphere, ideal for campground residents looking for a close, festive outing.
4. Night markets and village festivals
Each of the surrounding villages (Salignac, Peipin, Aubignosc) has its own fête votive.
The program includes pétanque competitions, popular dances, fireworks and large banquets (often featuring Sisteron lamb).
The Sisteron market: Saturday mornings are an institution, but in summer, night-time markets allow you to enjoy a cool stroll among local artisans.
